Scope Of Work
This project called for the construction of a new 32,205 SF police station for the City of Fairfax. It also included a 30,523 SF addition to the Fairfax City Hall and the renovation of the remaining 29,649 SF existing City Hall building. The sites for this three-phased project were merely one mile from one another. Phase I included the addition to City Hall and construction of the new Police Station. In phase II, City Hall was renovated and employees moved into the new addition and old police station during this process, and phase III involved the demolition of the old Police Station. The new police station featured interview rooms, holding cells, administrative offices, locker rooms, evidence rooms, a training room, polygraph rooms, the 911 call center and a fitness room. Renovations to the existing City Hall included a new two-story steel-framed addition with attic level office space. One of the major challenges of this particular project involved the renovation of the existing City Hall as it contained the IT center for both City Hall and the Police Station. During major demolition, serious care was taken to keep the IT center operational, namely, dust control was monitored.
