For the first fifteen years from inception in 1974, Herschman Architects’ (HA) practice consisted almost exclusively of commercial and retail-based interior architecture. Driven by market factors in the mid 1990s, HA began transitioning into shell and ground-up buildings and more diverse project types including shopping centers, commercial, industrial and residential. Engineering (electrical, mechanical, structural) disciplines were added in 2005.
HA takes pride in our longstanding client relationships, some lasting thirty plus years. HA attributes this client loyalty to the ability to deliver client-focused design within real world parameters of budget and schedule. Additionally, maintaining quality documentation along with contractor-friendly timeliness and accuracy in bidding and construction related communications are hallmarks of HA.
As designers and owners look at the ecological impact of materials, sustainability and lifecycle design, LEED®-accredited professionals incorporate environmental strategies to design high-performing buildings. HA understands that processes today affect the environment and future generations. HA offers sustainable design in the retail development industry, having participated in one of the first retail shell developments submitted for LEED® certification.
HA is a national firm, maintaining headquarters in Cleveland, Ohio since 1974. An Arizona office was opened in 2005, followed by a Los Angeles, California office in 2012.
