Scope Of Work
The project consists of two (2) structures (the Davis Arena Building) and (the Fitness Building), totaling approximately 119,500 square feet.
The foundations for both buildings rest on concrete piling, a total of 379 piling with a 16 inch diameter that penetrate the earth as deep as 60 feet. More than three miles of concrete pilings have been placed under the buildings; capable of supporting 189,000,000 pounds.
Primary building materials for these facilities consist of 4,800 cubic yards of concrete, 305 tons reinforcing steel, 350 tons structural steel, 439,000 bricks, and 164,000 concrete blocks.
The structural steel roof trusses in the Arena Building are 12 feet tall and clear span 164 feet. The bottom of the trusses are 45 feet above the floor.
The Fitness Building will house an intramural and practice court, classrooms, offices, cardio, aerobics, and weight training facilities.
Both buildings are heated and cooled with a 500 ton chiller and three gas-fired boilers.
