Scope Of Work

The new School of Communication Media Building and Life Hall Renovations project includes the construction of a brand new state-of-the-art building for Montclair State University’s College of the Arts. The project includes 30,000 sf of alterations and 55,000 sf of new construction.

Special interest spaces in the new facility include dancing and acting studios designed for acoustical retention with low impact flooring; two presentation spaces – one presentation hall with advanced theatre style seating to accommodate 180 guests and one performance studio featuring accordion style bleacher seating to flexibly maximize utilization of the space; a multi-platform newsroom; state of the art team and community study areas; broadcast and film screening rooms, and administrative support spaces.

The building addition was designed as a Spanish Mission style to coordinate with the existing campus wide design theme. The project also includes new walkways, lighting, trees, and seating areas for students and guests to network in proximity to the expanded and renovated building. The School of Communication Media Building is on target to attain LEED Silver certification, and was occupied by the University in September 2017.
