Durham, NC
Status:

Structure Type:
Office Building

Scope Of Work

Tucked among the woods of the Duke Forest in Durham, NC, the Center for Living Campus at Duke University plays host to innovative, personalized health and wellness programs. Two buildings are modernized for this repeat client: the Wallace Clinic and the Pepsico Health and Fitness Center.

The one-story Pepsico Health and Fitness Center is gutted and completely upgraded, the first improvements to the facility since first opening in 1991. A striking 7,000-SF mezzanine is constructed over the existing walking track to house the Physical Therapy Rehabilitation group.

The Wallace Clinic, which offers various sports medicine services, receives an interior renovation. A two-story, 13,000-SF addition is constructed to house the Michael W. Krzyzewski Human Performance Laboratory and MRI labs. The addition connects seamlessly to the Wallace Clinic.

Extensive electrical and mechanical renovations include upgrading the existing HVAC system. A new 325-ton air-cooled chiller serves three buildings on this campus, replacing a 225-ton and 100-ton chiller.
