Scope Of Work

Launched December 7th, 1942, the USS New Jersey, an astounding 887-foot long battleship, is no longer active but is still afloat in Camden, NJ on the Delaware River and now serves as a museum. The USS NJ is the United States’ most decorated battleship. Pennoni provided an environmental inspection, including a hazardous materials survey, this battleship. After of the inspection, Pennoni prepared detailed abatement plans and specifications for the removal of asbestos-containing materials, PCB-containing items/fluids, and ozone-depleting substances. The design detailed special concerns and conditions related to performing abatement on the battleship. The abatement process had to be carefully planned around renovations to the ship in preparation of its opening as a museum.
