Antinozzi Associates conducted a facility audit of this school site through the Capitol Region Educa­tion Council (CREC). Due to the short timeframe to meet the June 30 ED-049 deadline to submit for state reimbursement, the entire feasibility team worked to achieve report results in 10 weeks.

The existing 1963 school building combines one, two, and three story sections totaling almost 300,000 SF. The site accommodates an extensive athletic complex at the south end of the property. The primary goal of this audit was to analyze, in detail, the physical condition of all existing building and site components and relate those to the educational goals, future expecta­tions, and long-term plan of the West Haven School District.

Our design team developed and proposed three separate options for review, analysis, and cost consid­eration. Option 2, which became the leading option, would renovate only the gymnasium and auditorium areas. The remaining portions of the facility will be demolished to allow for a new central core of class­rooms and support spaces. The City Council unani­mously approved this option.
