Throughout college, I owned a landscaping business which taught me many important business skills at a young age. I was solely responsible for managing my staff, maintaining finances and equipment, and ensuring customer satisfaction. I would travel home many weekends to personally interact with my clients and ensure the business was operating efficiently and effectively. Managing a business “abroad” while in school was difficult; however, it taught me many valuable skills including time management, organization, and the ability to prioritize.
After receiving my Bachelor of Social Science, I excelled as a Project Supervisor in the Store Planning division of AC Moore, a specialty craft and arts retailer with more than 140 locations nationwide. The Project Supervisor position has contributed significantly to my professional growth. I have learned fiscal responsibility, bolstered my management skills, strategic planning, and effective communication. From a strategic planning perspective, I have remodeled more than 25 stores and implemented effective coordination and communication between the corporate office and individual retail locations nationwide.
After traveling to several stores along the east coast, I gained a macro understanding of AC Moore and how store planning is implemented. As a result of my observations, I proactively coordinated a meeting with the CEO. We discussed strategies to create a proficient store set-up process while maintaining AC Moore’s mission statement. I was later requested to present my concerns in a meeting including the COO, VP and regional VPs.
My passion for growth and success will contribute to a company’s vision tremendously. I am confident that my professional experience, drive and dedication make me an valuable employee.
