Scope Of Work
CM@ RISK Project
After a comprehensive study was completed by Miami Dade College, Thornton Construction was contracted as a construction manager to modify and improve restrooms throughout the College in order to bring its campuses up-to-date and to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements. Thornton replaced over 200 plumbing fixtures in 30 bathrooms among 12 buildings on the InterAmerican, Kendall, Homestead, Wolfson, Hialeah and North campuses. The renovations incorporated new technologies for energy and water conservation and involved selective demolition; alterations to and relocation of existing plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems and fixtures; repairs to and installation of over 14,480 SF of new surface tile; replacement of restroom accessories and countertops; automatic doors; toilet partitions; patching and repainting ceilings and doors; and minor remodeling of existing space.
Among the many benefits of these restroom renovations are improved sanitation, easier access for all, and lower operating costs.
