The brand new Park 101 in Carlsbad is the latest trendy spot for locals looking for a hip and casual dining experience. This kid and dog-friendly eatery boast great food and a view of the Village. The two-story building needed protective coatings for multiple areas throughout so they called on Life Deck to install them.

There were multiple phases typical of new construction but we here at Life Deck are seasoned veterans when it comes to working around multiple trades. On the upper floor and stairs leading upstairs, we installed Westcoat’s ALX waterproofing system to protect the space below. ALX is known for it’s Class A Fire Rating and Class I Vapor Barrier so it is our number one system for waterproofing over plywood substrates. We sealed in the stairs with SC-10 Acrylic Topcoat in Rocky Nook a subtle greige color.

Behind the upstairs snack bar, we also installed Epoxy Slurry with Cove over the ALX for an easy to clean surface in the food area. A seamless epoxy floor with an integral cove installation has no joints which make for an easily maintainable surface. Durable coating systems like this can be as decorative as they are durable pleasing the owner and end user.

Downstairs we tackled two areas, the dining area and bathrooms were mechanically prepped and we installed a Grind and Seal system. This is the perfect low maintenance coating for a sleek concrete look and has become very popular with restaurants all over San Diego. The kitchen and outside bar area needed something with a bit more food friendly, so we installed a pewter gray thin film epoxy which is easy to clean.
