Scope Of Work

Orange and Rockland Utilities contracted with Bortech Company, Inc. to install 170-feet of 30-inch steel casing pipe for a primary electric duct bank. This project required the use of the Auger Bore Method for installation. The launching and receiving pits were installed with OSHA guidelines for the slide rail and interlocking panels.

Bortech professionally engineered, designed and built the reaction wall to counter the jacking loads that the product pipe is allowed. To control the grade of the casing pipe Bortech fabricated a steering head that is monitored by a water leveling sensor located behind the steering head.

Bortech experience and procedures requires monitoring pressures and cutting head revolutions to casing advancement in addition to the displaced medium volumes to prevent the creation of voids at the drill head.
