Challenge

Cyrcon Builders was selected by Beacon Capital to reposition and modernize what was the second largest building in Los Angeles - the fully occupied 62 story AON building (Previously the United California Bank Building and then the First Interstate Tower). Every tenant was affected, including Wells Fargo Bank, AON, several law firms and a host of smaller companies.

Cyrcon was tasked with implementing a completely new lobby & mezzanine design, adding a café, and adding an architectural fifty foot tall suspended glass curtain wall on two sides of the building. At time of project award, drawings were 40% complete and Cyrcon Builders design built several complicated systems in the project, including: noise mitigation, paths of travel for all occupants, structural engineering, curtain wall engineering, and waterproof engineering.

Results

Cost – By utilizing their team of estimators and project managers Cyrcon Builders was selected over several other large firms based on price and the experience of our team.

Schedule – The key to a project of this size is limiting business interruption to the tenants by understanding and rerouting circulation. Because the building’s tenants enjoyed so many visitor’s Cyrcon Builders had to be very thoughtful in traffic control, way finding, and safety. Cyrcon achieved tenant buy in by employing greeters.

Quality – The repositioning of this landmark building had been considered for years. The architect, Johnson Fain, won awards for the project and it was featured in many magazines and publication. As you can see in the rendering (prior to construction) and the actual project photo to the right, Cyrcon Builders was able to achieve the exact look and feel of the architect’s vision.
