Scope Of Work
The Maryland Zoo, home to one of North America’s largest breeding colonies of African Penguins, has been hard at work creating a new exhibit for the endangered birds. The Zoo plays an important role in the conservation of this threatened species setting this project as a top priority.
With a fully stocked warehouse located in the heart of Baltimore and a reputation as a leading specialty construction products distributor in the area, Kenseal was the sound choice to supply materials for this project. Nick Kazimer, sales representative, Kenseal worked closely with the construction project team to deliver reliable Dow Corning 795® Silicone Building Sealant and Dow Corning® Primer 1200 to the site. These products aided in the development of an incredibly beneficial exhibit for both The Maryland Zoo and the African Penguins themselves. Key enhancements include:
- Doubling the population of the endangered species (the new exhibit will hold 100 birds);
- Providing innovative resources for penguin housing and breeding;
- Enhancing penguin living conditions through a highly dynamic environment;
- Developing a more energy efficient exhibit conserving millions of gallons of water annually;
- Enhancing the aesthetic appeal of the zoo; and
- Offering a state-of-the-art viewing experience for guests.
