Betsy Niemeier's Bio
As co-owner and Vice President of M & N Structures, I wear several hats and perform a variety of duties, including accounting, marketing, estimating, and human resources.
I joined the company in 1992 after a 17-year career in corporate and pension finance and sales. I worked in the commodities market for Cargill after graduating from Valparaiso University in 1975. My experience helped me market Kevin’s expertise, M&N’s fabricating capabilities, and the company’s passion for delivering quality products.
I enjoy fostering positive, long-term connections with clients, vendors, and design teams. To benefit these connections, I stay current and informed about new fabricating, code, and design trends, new accreditations such as LEED and BIM, new ideas in design build, customer retention, and market trends.
Kevin Niemeier's Bio
I founded M&N Structures in 1991 after working as a licensed structural engineer for 15 years. I graduated from the University of Minnesota Institute of Technology with a degree in Civil Engineering in 1976. As a project engineer, I was always interested developing a better design through steel. In checking other fabricator’s work, I realized that there was better synergy in designing steel to work in specific applications.
As M&N’s president and engineer, I oversee the company’s operations and continue to explore and learn; always trying to find better ways, better machines, and better processes to provide quality work for our customers.

Jim Niemeier's Bio
I work as a project manager and steel detailer. With 3D modeling software, I am able to have a bird’s eye view of any situation while working on shop drawings. By detailing a project as well as managing it, I am able to gain and provide an intimate knowledge of any job.
My growth as an employee has mirrored the growth of M&N Structures. In 1995, after graduating from the University of Illinois, I joined the family business and began fabricating steel with a torch, mag drill, welder, and grinder. For several years, I was M&N Structures’ only detailer and shop employee.
In my time with M&N, I have visited hundreds of job sites to deliver steel, observe steel erection, and handle field issues. My on-site experience—seeing what works and what doesn’t work, and interacting with erectors, job superintendants, and other tradesmen—brings a wealth of practical experience and approaches to M&N’s process.
Jonathan Henriksen's Bio
As a creative problem solver, I enjoy and excel in my roles as Project Manager and Steel Detailer. By working through shop and design drawings, as well as being a point of contact with superintendents, project managers, and foremen, I am the ultimate resource for a project and its status.
I graduated from St. Olaf College in 2005 with a liberal arts degree. My education has provided me with a global perspective, a deep knowledge base, and a strong desire to continue learning about the industry, improvements in processes and technology, and engineering and fabrication techniques.
My experience and creative problem solving skills continuously provide the best possible solutions for our clients.
