Scope Of Work
Conceptualized over a decade ago, the Academies of Loudoun construction project has built a first-of-its-kind, three-story, 306,000-square-foot educational/technical facility on a 119-acre parcel owned by Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS).
The mission of the Academies of Loudoun, says the LCPS website, “is to provide a 21st Century Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education that creates opportunities for LCPS students and faculty to innovate, explore, research and collaborate.” As the Loudoun Times-Mirror reported on April 24, 2018, “The Academies will open. . .with 1,700 to 1,800 students and eventually expand its student body to 2,500.”
The Academics of Loudoun, which will serve students in grades 9 through 12, will bring together three distinct, but inter-related, academies. Academies of Loudoun programs and laboratories include:
- Culinary
- Chemistry, Biology, Physics
- Veterinary Science
- Cosmetology
- Pharmaceutical
- Medical, Dental
- TV Production
- Information Technology
- Robotics
- Forensic Science
- Welding, Masonry, HVAC, Construction
- Automotive & Collision Repair
- Production and Retail Greenhouses
