Scope Of Work
The New York Aquarium sits on a 14 acre site at the Boardwalk in Coney Island, Brooklyn, and exhibits over 250 species of marine life. Modernization began in 2013 and was completed this year. Improvements included the $156 million “Ocean Wonders: Sharks! Exhibit, featuring over 45 sharks as well as a 60 foot high view of the beach and boardwalk. The project which was delayed because of Hurricane Sandy will hold a tank with more than 500,000 gallons of water for the sea turtles, rays and sharks. Manhattan Land Surveying & Engineering provided horizontal and vertical control, structure layout, site layout and as-built surveys. The field crews also determined the property lines and staked them out so that walls and fences could be erected, and established the location and placement of precast concrete railings around the new structures.
