Scope Of Work

•      The Project: Provide a Value Engineered HVAC system to retrofit a 100 year old warehouse building for student housing by local college students.

 

•      The Scope: Install 35,000sf of HVAC Duct Work associated with 41 residential units as well as large common areas simultaneously maximizing thermal efficiency and reducing cost.

•    The Catch: Introducing Knauf KoolDuct®, a relatively new product in the Northeastern US, to a static marketplace during extreme market conditions.

    

 

 

The project was originally specified for traditional metal duct work with duct wrap insulation. EISI presented the more thermal efficient Knauf KoolDuct as manufactured by PTM Manufacturing as a VE alternative.

 

What is Knauf KoolDuct®

 

–      Knauf KoolDuct® is a pre-insulated, high performance air duct system for interior and exterior residential, commercial and industrial HVAC applications. Knauf KoolDuct® is constructed from foil faced, CFC free, phenolic foam board that provides a minimum of an R-6 Thermal rating.

 

–      Knauf KoolDuct® offers significant advantages over sheet metal ductwork. Weight, space, installation time, installed costs, air leakage and energy performances are just a few.

 

 

 

The construction team was educated on the benefits of Knauf KoolDuct® and recognized a better application embracing the idea that KoolDuct® could be installed faster, required fewer hangers, save space and eliminated the need for additional insulation.

Safety is always a concern for EISI who has maintained a 0 safety rating for the last 5 years. Knauf KoolDuct® offers significant safety benefits to insulated sheet metal

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

•     Lightweight and easy to carry, minimizing material handling  issues.

 

 

 

 

•     Eliminates the handling of sharp metal.

•     Quick install eliminates the need to have large amounts of metal ducting lying around.

•     The Result: Installation was completed on time and under budget.
More importantly no injuries or incidents over the course of the project, under some extremely unusual working conditions, were incurred by EISI or subcontractors working in close proximity.

•     EISI was recognized by the Association of Builders & Contractors (ABC) with an Excellence in Construction award for the Value Engineering of The 550 Loft KoolDuct®project.
