Awnings by Bigley and Hogshire began serving Virginia in 1898 when Edward Hogshire opened a sail making loft in Norfolk, and ever since then we have worked on maintaining our reputation for “Getting It Right.”

Today’s Bigley family matriarch, Garland Bigley, instilled in her sons a strong work ethic and an attention to detail that is the backbone of the company. The brothers consistently measure quality as, “Would mom be happy with it?” We know that if we answer “Yes” to this important question, we have produced a winning product.

Architecturally pleasing design of awnings and shade structures is vitally important to happy customers. According to Taylor Bigley, “A well designed awning leads to sustainability, energy efficiency, and attractiveness. While we will not pick your colors for you, our broad product range, and knowledge will pay off by getting it right the first time.”

The company is currently run by Garland’s three sons, who each are in charge of managing a segment of the company. This system works well because the brothers each live in a different part of Virginia.

Taylor Bigley lives lives in Newport News in the Hampton Roads Tidewater region of Virginia and oversees manufacturing, marketing, and customer service in the Southeastern Virginia, and Northeast North Carolina region including Moyock, Hertford, Edenton and other surrounding areas. He often travels to our customers in Virginia Beach, Williamsburg, Norfolk, Suffolk, Chesapeake and surrounding areas.

Harry A. Bigley III lives in Northern Virginia and handles operations in the D.C. and Northern Virginia markets.

Charlie Bigley lives in the Richmond area and runs our Richmond area including Mechanicsville, Ashland, Henrico, Goochland and Western operations.

Dr. H. Alan Bigley Jr. “The Patriarch” handles our Tri-Cities area including Petersburg, Colonial Heights, Chesterfield, Franklin, consumer relations, and provides the voice talent for our family business radio and television advertisements.
