Scope Of Work
Background: The goal of the master plan was to provide permanent access and recreation improvements, natural resource restoration enhancements, accommodate, extended-season environmental education programs that would utilize shelters and the site’s natural areas, and to help improve the water quality of Hastings Lake. The Master Plan included a new paved entrance and internal road with parking areas, picnic shelters, trails, playground, restrooms, non-motorized boat access and fishing piers.
This construction contract will provide a new paved entrance and internal road, approximately 4 miles of asphalt and crushed-stone trails, one 850-foot boardwalk, a playground, two paved parking lots (110 cars total) to service boat access with parking, a 10-car trailhead parking lot at the Munn Road entrance, two fishing piers, and meadow and woodland restoration/enhancements. Also, the contract includes a shared use bike path along Grass Lake Road for which the Lake County Division of Transportation (LCDOT) will reimburse 100% of the cost.
