Our Story
Northern Steel Erectors, LLC has been in business since 1995, specializing in pre-engineered steel buildings along with many other aspects of steel erection.
Ken Scott, President of Northern Steel Erectors, followed in his father’s footsteps after his retirement, building the company up. His father Harold, began his career in 1954 in Illinois installing many types of the early metal buildings, joining the Ironworkers union in 1958.
In 1961 he came to New Jersey to erect a project for Firestone along the NJ Turnpike. He later returned to begin work with Forts and Krauser, a New Jersey general contracting firm at the time. They erected buildings all along the east coast and the Virgin Islands. In 1972 he started his own pre-engineered building erection company North Jersey Steel Erectors.
In 1980 Ken began work in the field joining the Ironworkers union in 1981. They erected hundreds of buildings throughout the 80’s and early 90’s.
Per Ken; "It was during this time when several of our current key employees, myself included, learned the value and reward of quality work."
Some of the more noteworthy projects included: IKEA – Elizabeth, NJ; BJ’s Wholesale – Jersey City and Roxbury, NJ; Georgia Pacific – Denville, NJ; Toys R Us Warehouse – Newark, NJ; along with several hangars at Teterboro Airport – Teterboro, NJ.
Northern Steel Erectors, LLC operates today with the same hard work and dedication to its valued customers and its employees. Ken still personally works as much in the field as his duties allow. NSE enjoys working closely with the Ironworkers union and all of the crew members.
