Having pursued both design and technical training in college, Ted focused on engineering and management issues at the Yale University, School of Drama, where he took also advantage of the academic resources available at the School of Art and Architecture and the School of Management. He graduated from Yale with a Master of Fine Arts in Theater Design and Technology in 1977.
After working for three seasons as the Technical Director of the Santa Fe Opera, Ted was invited to join the faculty of the Yale School of Drama, where he taught courses in technical direction, drafting, and acoustics. He has continued his association with Yale, providing regular seminars in management to the School of Drama’s technical students.
After a season with the Spoleto Festival, Ted was hired as the Director of the Stage Department at The Juilliard School in Lincoln Center, where he was responsible for budgeting of all productions and interfacing between the School’s Administration and Board and the various production departments, including Opera, Dance, Drama, and Music, and between those Departments and the professional technical services provided by the Stage Department.
Since participating in the founding of PDO in 1982, as CFO/Director of Marketing and Sales, Ted has been responsible for defining marketing strategies, sales and contract negotiations, financial and general management of the firm.
