Scope Of Work
This project scope included the replacement of deteriorated slate shingles, copper gutters and downspouts, terne metal and 4-ply built-up roof materials on a historic landmark structure. The Wisconsin State Historic Preservation Office had material standards requirements for composition, quality and appearance. In addition, the project required value engineering services, extensive coordination with masonry and window restoration work, and careful management of client occupancies. All work was performed in accordance with DOI Regulations, 36 CFR 67.
Opcon advised the client and the architect regarding: cost and availability alternatives for pre-patinated copper gutters and downspouts, asphalt shingle substitutes for slate shingles, and mortar colors and masonry sealants that would be appropriate for matching weathered masonry. Each recommended solution was accepted by the client, architect and SHPO for cost, quality and appearance in a historic landmark building.
