PreConstruction Services

For this project, Forrester Construction built a new 380,000 SF, four-level building capable of accommodating 1,400 students at Wakefield High School.  One of four public high schools in Arlington County, VA, Wakefield High School has been ranked among the top one-half percent of schools nationwide.  The project replaced the school’s aging 70 year-old facility which was demolished once occupancy was achieved.

The state-of-the-art educational facility includes classrooms, science labs, music and art rooms, administrative and counseling offices, a cafeteria with a full commercial kitchen, a media center, an auditorium, multiple gymnasiums, two large outdoor courtyards and two indoor pools. The project also involved construction of two athletic fields, a staff parking lot and bus loop.

Wakefield High School was originally designed to meet LEED™ Silver standards, but will earn Gold certification. Sustainable features include a solar panel array, a geothermal well system, grey water recycling and an emphasis on natural lighting.
