With the help of his wife, Maxine, Fred Wright started his business in a small basement office he set up in his home in Elkhart, Indiana. He hired extraordinary professionals including Ron Edman, a mason tender, in 1955. He and his team continued to grow the company until we incorporated in 1959.

In 1981, Wright Construction moved to Fort Myers, Florida. Early on, we won major regional clients such as Jerry’s Shopping Center on Sanibel Island, the Lee County School Board, and Edison State College (now Florida SouthWestern State College). Ron Edman became president of the company in 1985 and Ron began mentoring his son, also named Fred, to carry the torch of excellence as a leader in the company. Fred Edman began his career at Wright in 1983 as a field laborer, then later became a project manager and ultimately, vice president under his father. In 2001, Fred became president of the company. To facilitate the transfer of ownership from father to son, Wright Construction Group was established in 2005. Today, he and his wife Kelly remain the sole owners of Wright Construction Group.

We strive to turn over our finished projects with zero architectural punch-list items. We adhere strictly to the plans and specifications, industry standards, and manufacturers’ installation instructions. We thoroughly inspect the project before we announce it is complete.

We have a standard of zero contractor-initiated change orders on all of our construction management projects. We take cost control very seriously and are committed to working with our clients to be good stewards of the resources they have available on their projects.

Our delivery process includes a highly structured plan review to identify any errors or omissions in the design documents to clarify every detail before we go to contract.

We continue to serve our clients even after their projects are completed. Wright is always available to discuss any issues because we value our clients and commit to the long term.
