Scope Of Work
Tierra performed geotechnical and materials testing services for Belleair Beach Causeway Bridges Replacement. This project was located in the western portion of central Pinellas County, and the proposed limits of construction extend from just east of Gulf Boulevard (SR 699) in Belleair Shore to approximately 600 feet west of Indian Rocks Road (CR 697) in Belleair Bluffs, a total distance of approximately 1.6 miles. The project consisted of the replacement of two bridges, including the replacement of the1,376-foot long drawbridge with a 3,350-foot long, high-level fixed-span concrete bridge, located just north of the existing alignment; and a 324-foot long low-level concrete bridge with a similar structure, constructed along the existing alignment, thus-requiring two-phased construction. The project also involved reconstruction of the roadway along the causeway and approaches.
The contract consisted of monitoring the installation of all drilled shaft foundations and verification laboratory testing which includes compression testing of concrete and soil tests, such as standard and modified Proctor tests, LBR tests, chemical tests to determine soil corrosiveness, organic content, liquid and plastic limits, grain size analysis and soil classification.
