Scope Of Work
PAST PERFORMANCE - The need for improved access to health care for McLean County's low-income residents who are on Medicaid, on Medicare or uninsured was the goal of a multi-million expansion and renovation of the county's federally qualified health center. Substantial renovations to the building at 702 W. Chestnut St. in Bloomington, IL started in early 2018.
The substantial renovations allowed for quadrupling in size, from 8,000 square feet at their old location to 32,000 square feet at the new location. The focus was primary care for individuals and families at or below 200 percent of the federal poverty level. The goal of this project was to provide a facility that would offer preventive and wellness services, chronic disease management as well as screening, intervention, and referral for behavioral health treatment before health problems become acute and costlier to treat.
Transforming this treatment center into a medical office building for Chestnut Health Center is now completed. Along with major renovations, some additional spaces were constructed between existing parts of the facility.

From the previous location, this facility increased the number of exam rooms from 8 to 18; a limited medication dispensary was replaced with a pharmacy operated by Genoa Healthcare and a lab operated by LabCorp tripled the size of the previous lab.
In addition, a teaching kitchen and two meeting rooms are available for other community agencies to conduct classes on such topics as nutrition, exercise, and tobacco cessation. The second-floor space will eventually be occupied by dental services.
