Hinesville City Hall & Police Building

Project Information

Project Location:
Hinesville, GA
Status:
Completed
Structure Type:
Fire / Police Station

Scope Of Work

At twice the size of the original facility, Hinesville’s new 48,000-SF City Hall centralizes city offices that were once in separate buildings. Though it is much larger, the City Hall is far more energy efficient than the original smaller building by incorporating several green features. Energy efficient items include sunshades, 12,000-gallon cistern for irrigation, occupancy sensors, and high-efficiency lamps.

The three-story building contains the city mayor, manager, and clerk’s offices, along with a Council Chamber to hold City Council meetings. Additional offices and amenities include conference rooms, storage rooms and kitchen. The interior corridors, lobbies, and offices are finished with stain-grade maple wainscoting, three-piece crown molding, solid wood floors, and stile and rail doors.

As a tribute to the history of Hinesville and Liberty , the third floor features the Hinesville Room. The stained-wood lounge showcases the city’s history and the achievements of its citizens, such as Samuel Dowse Bradwell who founded the Bradwell Institute and Daniel Stewart, for which Camp Fort Stewart is named.

The project also required the renovation of the town police station, upfitted by Choate to serve as the interim City Hall during construction. The entire project was completed five months ahead of schedule and under budget.
