Scope Of Work
MCL Construction completed the transformation of the former Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church to the new Nelson Mandela Elementary serving the North Omaha Community.
There are two new additions to the existing structure, both providing natural light to the use of space. The first addition now serves as the main entry to the school with a front desk, office space, and a cafeteria area.
The second addition enclosed the old main entrance to the church and now serves as the school's library and media center. Great care was taken to assure the addition did not diminish the original detail of the existing structure.
The sanctuary is now a gymnasium and auditorium space. The stained glass windows were salvaged during construction and used as a design feature in the area.
Existing classrooms on campus were renovated to meet the needs of the school and students to create a positive learning environment. The entire building has HVAC and electrical upgrades.
