Scope Of Work
McCarthy was selected by LBC Tank Terminals, Inc. to construct a new Ship Dock facility and two barge docks to support expansion of terminal operations and storage capacity at the turning basin of the Port of Houston's Bayport Container Terminal Ship Channel.
The project included mechanical excavation of 708,000 cubic yards of material from +20 to -42 MLT, construction of 2,040 LF bulkhead wall comprised of 440 sheets 84' long, 202 battered H-pile, and a waler system with tie-rods. The ship and barge docks included 6,800 square feet of pre-cast concrete panels that sit on concrete pile foundations up to 110' in length, erection of a structural steel hose tower and full-faced fender system, as well as installation of ten, 84" monopile mooring and breasting dolphins, four 48" monopile dolphins. In all, McCarthy installed 157 concrete pile, and 642 steel and sheet piles on the project.
McCarthy's self-perform work included all mechanical dredging and hauling, site work, sheet pile installation, concrete pile driving, cast-in-place concrete and utility work.
