Scope Of Work

This project included the construction of a new storm water pump station that housed the first U.S. built concrete volute pumps with 2,250HP, 4,160v motors, variable frequency drives, and a pumping capacity of 375,000 GPM.  These pumps discharged into 96” above and below ground steel discharge piping that connected into an existing flume that feeds into the Trinity River basin.  The pump station houses an electrical control room and a truck loading bay.  Outside of the pump station is a forebay that required major regrading, a trash rack screening system, 40 foot tall cast in place retaining walls, and generator and transformers.  The forebay area remained in service to feed the existing storm water pump station requiring BAR to install substantial earthen retaining berms to prevent the new work from flooding.  The pumps’ variable frequency drives utilized a closed loop glycol and chiller cooling system.  This unmanned facility is controlled remotely by SCADA.  BAR performed all shoring, mechanical, yard piping, and concrete work on this project and utilized its concrete batch plant.  BAR was awarded an early completion bonus on this project for early project delivery.
