Scope Of Work
SMART IOS-1 & IOS-1A DESIGN-BUILD
This is a design-build project to construct 36 miles of track for the initial operating segment of the new SMART commuter rail system. As a part of the equity joint venture, our work includes removal and reconstruction of track and track bed along an existing alignment, of which 30 miles are under active freight traffic. Notable features of the work include bridge construction (nine replacements and nine repairs), grade crossings (48 public, 18 private), extensive drainage work (over 100 transverse culverts), and station substructures (eight each). The right-of-way goes through numerous environmentally sensitive areas with a large portion of work immediately adjacent to wetlands.
