Scope Of Work

With a grand opening on October 29, 2015, the Private & Commercial division of Preferred Materials Asphalt began work on the Tampa Premium Outlet Mall on April 16, 2015.  Performing the work for RIPA and Associates, Preferred completed the 2,376 parking stalls and 808,000 sq. ft. of parking area with 343,000 sq. ft. of drive lanes at the Tampa Premium Outlet ahead of schedule (despite the record summer rainfall in 2015). In an article written three weeks prior to the grand opening, Tampa Bay Business Journal noted, “Still-vacant storefronts are filled with building materials and shelving, and construction workers are finishing up a manmade lagoon in the center of the property as well as the food court. The parking lot, however, is ready to go, as asphalt paving contractor Preferred Materials, Inc. finished up early, paving the way for 2,376 parking spaces.”  (Source: http://bit.ly/TBBJ-TampaOutlet)

Regarding the work performed on the Outlet Mall, John Bramonte, VP of Private & Commercial Division at Preferred Materials Asphalt, stated, “Being ahead of the building is unheard of. The parking lot is usually the last to be done. A lot has to do with the coordination of the teams and what RIPA has done to get in there and make it happen.” The Tampa Premium Outlet Mall is the second large-scale project Preferred and RIPA have had success in collaborating on.  In the Fall of 2014, Preferred paved 2,575 parking spaces on 112,000 square yards of asphalt for RIPA at the Amazon Fulfilment Center in Ruskin, FL. Led by the same superintendent, Dan Dyer, and project manager, Josh Smith, RIPA once again looked to Preferred’s Private & Commercial team to complete the large-scale Outlet Mall project. John explained, “Customers have a lot of choices in the private commercial segment, so Preferred really has to work to create those relationships. When we do, there’s continuity in the team which lends to constant communication and coordination to make sure the project goes smoothly.”
