Coast Sweeping Service was launched in 1969 by Don and Milynn Schaefer out of their home in Newberg, Oregon. Don traded life as a sales rep in the health care industry for the simple act of providing cleaning services for Portland area parking lots. The business grew to extend a comprehensive line of parking lot services, which includes asphalt paving, sealcoating, striping, concrete, and crack sealing. Don's simple philosophy was to take care of customers by taking care of their parking lots.

Now renamed, Coast Pavement Services is the largest provider of complete pavement maintenance services in the greater Portland area. In 2004, Don retired from Coast but the staff continues to provide quality parking lot services to loyal customers.
