When John Nation decided to use his degree in accounting for something outside of the cubicle it meant the start of what would one day be one of the best landscaping companies in Arizona. He has always maintained the ethos of doing the most good for the most people.
John Dean Nation; born in Mesa and raised in Phoenix. I have lived here my entire life other than 2 wonderful years spent in Peru. I have been married now for 20 years and we have 5 children and 2 dogs to show for it.
I have a degree in Accounting from ASU, which was a great springboard into my current career as a landscaper. While I was completing my final year at ASU I was preparing taxes for a friend that began Clean Cut Lawns. He and I go back to 1982 when we were in Boy Scouts together. Our friendship led to a partnership in business in 1996 and I’ve enjoyed being in the business ever since.
When I started with the company we had a few part time employees and performed residential lawn service. Shortly after I started we obtained a contractor’s license and all of the necessary insurances to provide service to home owner associations and commercial clients. Our first HOA experience was in Scottsdale working for a condominium association. Those days were great, I would work with and oversee the crews during the day, learned to be an irrigation technician and a small engine mechanic, and at night would do all of the accounting and bookkeeping. I think that’s when I lost my hair.
Today I am surrounded by some amazingly talented individuals that I appreciate and learn so much from.
