Scope Of Work
This project consists of the information desk in the Crestline Library. It is constructed of FSC solid Maple. We purchased the maple in 12’ lengths 1-3/4” thick in random widths. We milled the planks into 1-1/2” widths. We then glued the 1-1/2” blocks together forming 1-3/4” thick x 36” wide x 12’ long planks. We then planned the slabs to 1-1/2” thick. To make the tops, we then crosscut the planks into 3” wide strips, turned them on end and glued them together with the end grain up. We then glued the end grain planks to the edge grain plank legs creating a solid block look. The maple is finished with Linseed Oil. The metal front is galvanized steel.
The project took 340 man hours to produce, finish and install over a 7 week time period.
