Scope Of Work

ICI/Charles Vincent George Architects came to us looking to do a large curtain wall for a newly constructed National Shrine of St. Therese.  They knew they wanted St. Therese to be etched in glass and they wanted to add stained glass to duplicate the stained glass doors that are in the Museum.

The main challenge was that the client wanted to be able to see St. Therese at all times of the night and day.  Night time was easy because it was edge-lit; however, during the day etched/carved glass tends to disappear.  In order to make this happen, we applied gold-leaf to accent the carved/etched glass to reflect the natural and light within the Shrine.  It worked beautifully.

The stained glass was to border St. Therese to accent her.  They wanted to use the doors in the museum as the inspiration.  After many design adjustments, we came up with a Gothic Arch design using the Stained Glass around the St. Therese focal point.  In addition we incorporated fused glass to bring an element of a newer technique.
