Scope Of Work
Due to increasing demand, JetBlue Airways Corporation desired to construct a new JFK Terminal 5 and become the sole tenant. Peter Scalamandre & Sons was chosen as the Civil General Contractor to provide civil support work related to the installation of a new thermal distribution system and chilled water lines without disruption to ongoing airport operations.
The scope of the project called for supportive excavation of existing asphalt and concrete pavement. Soil excavation and removal from site was performed to a variety of specified depths in order to prepare the site for the utility installation.
A new thermal distribution system and chilled water lines were installed to specified elevations.
Filling of the excavated areas and placement new pavement followed. All of the various mix designs and pavement sections met the standards of PANYNJ and FAA.
Lagging walls and H-beams were installed in order to complete this project.
