Scope Of Work
Hill Auditorium is located in the heart of the University of Michigan (U-M) campus in Ann Arbor. It opened in 1913, was designed by Albert Kahn and underwent a major renovation in 2002. This venue is where major public events of the university take place, and where the best performing artists the world has to offer perform. The university needed to make improvements and life safety upgrades to the building.
CCC was awarded the general contracting contract by U-M which consisted of improving the life safety items pertaining to stage hand production, revising the handrails throughout the auditorium to meet new code, updating restrooms with new partitions and to bring two restrooms up to ADA compliance, and finally cosmetically, painting the atrium.
The project took four months to complete. CCC self-performed iron modifications to the fall protection and completed the drywall work, along with using seven subcontractors for demolition, toilet partitions, glazing, flooring, painting, plumbing and electrical. The difficult part of the project was painting the atrium which was 50 feet tall and 250 feet long.
The result was a spruced up, safer performing arts center for the university, public, stage hands and lighting crews to enjoy.
