Scope Of Work
The new Bloomfield Hills High School located on Long Lake Road just west of Telegraph Road (on the old Andover High School site) was constructed to consolidate the students from both Lahser and Andover High Schools into one larger, more efficient, state-of-the-art technology complex. The new school is approximately 372,000 square feet, took 27 months to complete, and has a capacity for 1,800 students. It was financed through a $58.6 million voter-approved construction bond, along with an additional $20 million in funds from the district. The school consists of nine learning communities that create a personalized and collaborative learning environment, three large music rooms, an 800-seat auditorium, a 12-lane swimming pool with seating for 400, and 1,700 bleacher seats in the gym.
CCC was awarded the general trades and carpentry package, along with the ACT ceiling package by Construction Manager Barton Malow. CCC was responsible for the interior buildout of the new complex including all ceiling systems, walls, custom wood paneling, doors and hardware, window treatments and visual display surfaces. A unique feature of the project for CCC was installing 30,000 square feet of ceiling and wall acoustical wood finishing.
The high school was finished for the first day of school on September 8, 2015. Prior to that day, all construction hands were on site over the Labor Day weekend to complete the work so the doors could open on time and without a problem on the 8th, including CCC’s construction team.
