This design/build project for an Army Reserve complex involved the construction of three new buildings and site improvements on a stand-alone 20 (approx.) acre, semi-rural parcel. The building includes a kitchen, cafeteria, dining facilities, classrooms, and a gymnasium.
The Reserve Center Building is 33,750 square feet, the Organizational Maintenance Shop is 8,320 square feet and the Unheated Storage Building covers 1,600 square feet. Building construction is mixed structural steel frame and load bearing masonry with brick and block masonry veneer cladding throughout. Translucent wall panels, corrugated metal wall panel and standing seam metal roofing are other included components. Contract includes stringent air barrier requirements along with the requirement to attain a LEED ‘Silver’ Certification. The project was constructed in compliance with Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection standards.
Site improvements include domestic and fire water lateral installation along with sanitary sewer and sanitary sewer lift station construction. Site asphalt roadways and asphalt parking cover approximately 80,000 square feet. Construction of heavy duty concrete pavement for use as MEP Parking is planned for 140,000 square feet of the site area. Site electrical and communications facilities are also included in the contract. Significant earthwork and excavation were necessary to create the proposed finished grading plan promoting virtually no storm water runoff. All storm runoff is detained by means of three major infiltration basins.
