2016 Award of Excellence - Parking Structure Design
The parking deck is the second of three cast in place parking decks that American South has built for Buncombe County. The decks were designed by Keith Hargrove Architect, PC of Asheville, NC
?The 258,000 SF deck houses 650 spaces and includes open view stair towers with curtain wall framing to provide safe passage of students using the deck. The exterior of the deck is clad with perforated metal panels to give the deck an open air feeling while providing some break from the wind in this mountain area. In order to construct the deck on the main campus, the main road leading into the campus was relocated to make room for this project and the Multi-purpose Building that is constructed next to the parking deck and connected by covered walkway.
