Scope Of Work
E.W. Howell provided Construction Management services for The Institute for the Study of the Ancient World, owned by the Leon Levy Foundation. This project includes a total renovation and restoration of an existing six-story, 27,000 square foot, east side mansion, originally built in 1899. This non-profit institution serves as an international center of critical scholarship. The program spaces include, lecture rooms, offices, library, grand reading room, conference rooms, exhibition galleries, specialized air climate control for selected areas containg collection exhibits. The exterior limestone and brick facades were restored and cleaned. Unique spaces were created by removing floor slabs and reframing for a three-story free standing library structure. The original, grand circular staircase, which begins on the first floor lobby, were extended one additional flight to the sixth floor.
