Scope Of Work
Jemicy School's Science Center was completed four months ahead of schedule and it provides students with an exceptional, progressive classroom experience – complete with renewable energy, shop facilities, indoor and outdoor gardening, and an outdoor instructional plaza. Energy saving features in the science center include: an offset gable roofline, which maximizes the southern roof exposure for the photovoltaic panels used for generating electricity; A real-time video display in the classroom shows the amount of electricity being used in comparison to how much is being generated by the panels; An entrance vestibule will reduce heat loss/gain during class rotation. Other green features include low VOC paint to improve indoor air quality; remote-operable skylights; low opening windows and a ceiling fan for increased ventilation.
