Scope Of Work
E Dunn completed the 63,865 SF new Crestview Elementary school in Merriam, KS. This project was one of many that were part of a bond to upgrade multiple elementary schools in the Shawnee Mission School District. The 60-year-old school was demolished prior to construction to allow the new school to be built on the same site. The new school features a precast structure gymnasium with hardwood sports flooring, polished concrete corridors, full service kitchen, and collaboration spaces in each of the learning wings.
Challenges experienced on this project included designing and constructing the building on a tight site, which included a vast amount of subsurface rock and unsuitable soils. New construction began in late November, at which time the project experienced rain and freezing temperatures. This inclement weather had a major impact on the construction schedule, and the ability to complete site grading and foundation work.
