Scope Of Work
The recently renovated Norwalk Tower, serves low-income Seniors ages 62+ who are living below 50% of the area medium income. The acquisition and rehabilitation tower includes 102 studio and 83 one-bed/one-bath homes along with extensive community room, common space, and laundry room.
Central to the $12 million renovation are several sustainable elements, including a rooftop-mounted solar thermal system which preheats water prior to entering the boiler system. The 36 panel rooftop system will feed a 15,000 gallon holding tank (to contain the pre-heated water). Other key sustainable efforts are in the replacement of over 2,000 inefficient light fixtures with LED lights throughout. LED lighting offers numerous long-term benefits including Zero UV emissions and is free of toxic chemicals. In addition there is installation of regenerative elevators which collect and recycle energy and high-efficiency windows.
