Scope Of Work

The Hope College DeVos Fieldhouse hosts offices for the department of Kinesiology and the college's athletic training program, and is the home court for the men's and women's basketball and volleyball programs. This 102,000 square foot redevelopment project was built at the formerly contaminated site of a foundry on Fairbanks Avenue south of Ninth Street in Holland, Michigan. Driesenga & Associates performed geotechnical engineering and special inspection/testing services throughout construction of the building to ensure the facility was constructed in accordance with project specifications and the 2003 Michigan Building Code. Driesenga's survey department conducted a topographic survey and initial control. An environmental site investigation was performed on the contaminated site prior to construction. Geotechnical engineering services were performed, and included evaluation of soil borings. Based on the soil boring information, recommendations were provided for footing design and general construction. Inspection services consisted of vibro-compaction oversight and on-site/laboratory testing of soils, concrete, masonry, structural steel, and asphalt.
