Scope Of Work
Advance Packaging is a 400,000 square foot corrugated paper manufacturing plant situated on a 24-acre site in the City of Kentwood, MI. In addition to municipal approvals, development of the site required relocation of the Esbaugh County Drain and easement which bisected the property, coordination of rail spur access, extensive earthwork to accommodate the large building footprint, and wetland mitigation and permitting. The project was completed on a fast-track design/build schedule in order to accommodate the manufacturing and distribution schedule of the client. Work began in August of 2005, and construction and final approvals were completed and obtained by December 2006. Driesenga & Associates, Inc. (D&A) completed a full scope of services for the Advance Packaging project including: a Phase I & II, a baseline environmental site assessment, geotechnical engineering & soils investigation, boundary/topographic survey, ALTA survey, conceptual layout, civil engineering drawings and design, City of Kentwood site, storm water and soil erosion control approvals, coordination and permitting for Kent County Drain Commission (KCDC) drain relocation, Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) lineal wetland permit, City of Grand Rapids coordination and permitting for public utilities, rail spur design and permitting through CSX Railroad, construction staking, and storm water as-builts. Project challenges included rerouting and partial enclosure of the Esbaugh County Drain, requiring a full HEC-RAS analysis of the 72 acre watershed, coordination with KCDC and MDEQ, and coordinating a conservation easement and revised description of the new drain location. The D&A team also provided construction staking and construction materials testing on the project. - See more at: http://driesenga.com/portfolio.htm#!/all/advance-packaging
