Scope Of Work
This new 142,000-sf preschool through eighth grade school for 1,000 students is located on a 13-acre site in the Anthem Community in Broomfield. The main entry has nearly 60 feet of grade change across the site which allows for a second entry and drop off. Included in the site is a three-acre shared neighborhood play field area for the community. The main entry level has the administration area and library as well as classrooms for Pre-K and the lower grades. The second floor classroom wing accommodates the upper grades and middle school. The lower level has the cafeteria, gymnasium and specialty classrooms with direct access to the play areas. The neighborhood park is adjacent to the school and will provide joint use of the fields.
In the heart of a growing suburban community, the team worked around residential construction and bustling community activity. Built into a hill with 60 feet of grade change across the site, the school was completed in a fast-track schedule to open in time for the new school year.
Thunder Vista is the first Denver Metro school to receive the Collaborative High Performance Schools (CHPS) Verified Leader certification, designed to enhance learning, protect the health of staff and students and reduce energy consumption.
