Scope Of Work
The Women’s Tower Expansion is part of a multiphase renovation and expansion at Seton Medical Center in Austin, Texas, consisting of a six-story, 129,000-SF tower with tie-ins to eight floors of the existing building. The new tower includes 32 postpartum rooms, three nurses stations, two nurseries, and all the auxiliary rooms to support a fully functioning women’s center. The renovation work of 44,175 SF includes four C-section operating rooms, recovery rooms, waiting rooms, a new nursery and several new nurses stations throughout the second floor. Challenges to the project included the restrictions created by a tight, heavily sloped site between two fully operational facilities: a full-service hospital with a 24-hour emergency room and helipad, and a medical office building.
Rogers-O’Brien received the 2009 ABC Excellence in Construction Eagle and the 2009 AGC Outstanding Construction .
