Scope Of Work
On October 18th, 2012, Hetzer was awarded SHA Contract WA416 for replacement Dual Bridges on I-70 over MD Rte. 63 Washington County. began November 2012. included replacement concrete footings substructure, as well as steel concrete superstructures for both eastbound westbound bridges. While existing bridges each had three piers four spans, new bridges each have only one pier two spans. was accomplished four stages. Stage 1 was for temporary I-70 roadway widening. Stages 2 3 were for bridge reconstruction. Stage 4 was for final pavement median drainage improvements. Two interstate traffic lanes were maintained in both directions, no temporary bridge or detours was employed. Centerline shoring for support excavation was accomplished using lagged H-pile "Reinforced Earth" walls. Originally awarded at $11,850,570, change orders brought final billing to about $12,680,180.
